So I was comparing the accord coupe ex-l to the civic ex-l, and apparently the civic weighs 11 pounds? Are my eyes going bad, am I going crazy? Or is that really what's listed there. That right there would be an amazing power to weight ratio. Snap shot off of the Honda website.

ANYWAYS.

This will probably be my last instalment of asking you guys on opinions for cars as I am super close too getting one. After searching on craigslist, and a few bad cars later, we decided a dealer may be an better option. What are your guys opinions on the Honda accord coupe EX-L version? I'm pretty much set on this car. It has a 2.0 litter engine, leather interior, and pretty nice looks. Any problems with the newer accords? Also lets see if someone can convince me of a car for the same or less msrp. Link below.

Accord has a 2.4L and it is a pretty nice motor despite the stupid name "Earth Dreams". Are you not interested in RWD? Because the FRS, Genesis Coupe and V6 Stang can be had for similar money.

Brz/frs, looked at it,too little of a rear seat, and this give a lot better interior for the same price. genesis coupe, not as reliable. Mustang... good looking car but I prefer the accord, plus it's also a higher 5 year to own cost.

I can't fault the Accord it's a solid pick and has one of the best manual shifters you can buy. If it's your thing go for it, but I say wait until President's Weekend for the best deal. This week isn't the best time to negotiate most dealers are coming off their high from end of year bonuses.

4 cylinder Honda Accord with a CVT? Are you insane? Go drive a Focus ST right now before you do something crazy.

If we're talking V6 with manual then maybe. Maybe . But otherwise, NO!

Well i've been waiting for a car for about two years now, a little hard to wait. Plus I'm going to be traveling during then possibly. How much of a difference will it really be?

It all depends...well if you are itching to get it soon at least wait until the last week of Jan. Usually better incentives at the end of the month.

Aww, no six?

Otherwise, wouldn't be my personal choice but as Automatch says, "it's a solid pick". Lot of car for the money, and some fun thrown in too.

Haven't driven a new Accord yet, they're rare as hens teeth in my rental fleet. I have a lingering suspicion though that it won't be like the Accords of old, which were kinda like Japanese BMW's.

Less reliable, less safety ratings, and less interior space. They definitely tie on fuel cost/epa estimate, and interior styling. Of course it does outperform the Honda, and its cheaper by quite a bit. At this point its a draws and just comes downs to looks of the car, and personal opinion. So i'll see if I can drive it. I've already driven the accord though.

It's not a particularly exciting car, but from your couple other posts it doesn't seem like you're looking for a particularly exciting car. If the Accord is in your price range, the coupe at least has a decent back seat compared to the Civic coupe. So...might as well get it.

True that. Dealers usually try and meets sales goals, or beat other salesman. Well just go like half an hour before the dealership closes on a friday. lol. Just take forever too close the deal. That'll piss the salesman off. *here just take the car, I'm tired.* (probably won't do this though.)

New accords are really nice. Get a sedan if you get worried about back seat space, they look better too IMHO. And please, please get it in a Manual. The cvt is OKAY, but with a Manual shifter as good as it is it would be a waste to get the CVT. Manual + the 4 cylinder is a really good combo, very peppy.

No my friend they are not. Hard to describe how they're different, but they are quite a bit different. The new accord has pretty good stability control, makes your feel a little better about hammering it in the corner. Don't know about with stability control off.

I've tried looking at exciting cars like the brz, mustang,(drove a couple of friends cars) went too the dealership and everything, yet this is just a car that I can have for a long time and not have to trade when i'm getting married or having kids or something, while still being really practical, and somewhat fun. It's the reliability I like the most though. I honestly NEVER EVER dreamed about owning a newer honda, but I have been enlightened. I am going to get another fun car one I get enough saved up from my summer job.

As an owner of a new Accord Sport with the manual, I absolutely agree. I don't care about the supposed 2 mpg penalty for the manual over the CVT cuz it is just fun to drive for a cheaper, sensible, family car.

Just get a 4 Door GTI, it's a quick little car that is great for commuting and will have enough room if you decide to have kids. I believe it gets over 30mpg as well, and it's fun. I loved mine while I owned it. They can be had for around $25k, which is just a bit more then the Accord.

If you're getting some other fun car down the line then you might as well get the Accord sedan now instead of the coupe.

I have both an old Accord coupe and a brand new Accord Sport sedan, so I definitely vote for that over the Civic. I wrote about them a while back here and here (Hooray for self-promotion!). Even the older and much smaller coupe has a usable backseat although it can be tedious to unload and load my toddler in his car seat. I agree with what others said that if you're worried about practicality just get the sedan. It's still one of the best looking sedans out there IMO, and the back seat is cavernous.

Oh, and definitely get the manual. You won't regret it.

It's been great so far. We really like it. You can't get any options with the Sport, but it had everything we wanted except for a sunroof. You also can only get the manual Sport in gray or black, which sucks but we're okay with black. It's fun to drive for what it is and is surprisingly torquey for a typical Honda engine. So far with 13k miles, we've averaged about 30 mpg overall, which isn't too shabby. I can't speak for the CVT Sports, but the manual Sport was hard to find but ending up being a great deal at a bit over $2k off MSRP.

Ahh the sunroof is the one option my dad would want to have. I know you can get a manual and a sunroof, it's the trim right above sport. And I'm fine with getting it in Black. I actually think it looks best in black. 30 mpg is crazy for what you get!
